F-150 Tire Sizing — Trim-by-Trim Guide
All F-150 trims share 6×135 bolt pattern. XL through Lightning EV — every trim from 2004–present uses 6×135 with 87.1mm center bore, making wheels fully interchangeable across the lineup.
285/70R17 is the best bolt-on upgrade for XLT 4WD. From stock 265/70R17 (31.61″), moving to 285/70R17 (32.71″) is a +3.5% diameter increase. This fits most XLT builds without rubbing and is the most recommended upgrade on F150Forum.
Lightning EV requires matched sets. The Lightning uses IRS (independent rear suspension), limiting lift options. All four tires must be the same size — diameter mismatch exceeding ±3% causes torque imbalance warnings. The Platinum (275/45R22) can upgrade to 285/50R22 as a four-corner matched set.
35s require 4–6″ lift on standard F-150. 315/70R17 (34.36″) — stock Raptor size — needs significant lift and a front differential drop on non-Raptor builds. The Raptor achieves this with its factory FOX suspension and factory wide-body fender flares.
