Toyota Tacoma Tire Size Calculator
See exactly how much lift a bigger tire needs on your Tacoma before you buy — across every generation from 1995 to today.
Quick Answer
3rd gen TRD Off-Road stock 265/70R17 = 31.61″ diameter. The most popular TacomaWorld upgrade — 265/75R16 on the SR5 — hits 30.86″ with no lift (+3.5% vs SR5 stock 265/70R16). Want 33s? 285/75R16 = 33.83″ needs 2–3″ lift. Want 35s? 315/70R17 = 34.36″ needs 3–4″ lift + front diff drop. All bolt to the same 6×139.7 pattern across all Tacoma generations (1995–2024+).

Tacoma Tire Sizing — Generation-by-Generation Guide
All generations share the same 6×139.7 bolt pattern. G1 (1995–2004), G2 (2005–2015), G3 (2016–2023), and G4 (2024+) all use 6×139.7 with a 106.1mm center bore — OEM TRD wheels are cross-generation compatible.
G3 is the most commonly built generation. Stock sizes range from 265/70R16 (SR5) to 265/70R17 (TRD Off-Road/Sport), 265/65R17 (TRD Pro), and 265/60R18 (Limited). The TacomaWorld consensus: 265/75R16 fits the SR5 bolt-on with no lift; 285/75R16 fits on a 2–3″ lift.
For 33s, expect 2–3″ lift minimum. 285/75R16 (33.83″) or 285/75R17 (33.83″) are the classic "33 builds." Going to 35s (315/70R17 = 34.36″) requires 3–4″ lift plus a front differential drop and re-gearing to 4.88 for the V6.
Re-gearing threshold: ±10% diameter change. For V6 Tacomas with stock 3.91 or 4.10 axle ratios, a 10%+ diameter increase significantly hurts off-road crawl and highway towing. Most builders choose 4.30 gears for 33s and 4.56–4.88 for 35s.
